This dedicated group of parishioners performs an essential spiritual work of mercy by ministering to the spiritual needs of male and female inmates at the Pasco County Detention Center (8 miles north of SR 54 on US 41) on Monday and Tuesday evenings from 6:30 – 9:00 pm. Weekly sessions consist of a prayer service with Communion in one POD (Men or Women) and Mass in another alternately. Volunteers from Our Lady of the Rosary assist the clergy or help to run the service, with a commitment of at least one visit per month. They accept donations of yarn which then turn into afghans, shawls, lap robes, baby items, etc. Mary's Hands is open to all men, women, and children who want to share their talent in giving to others in need. These volunteers assist every Thursday morning at the Baldomero Lopez Veterans' Home where Mass is celebrated for the residents. Volunteers help wheelchair and other ambulatory challenged residents to and from their rooms. They also bring Holy Communion to those veterans who are unable to leave their beds. This committee endeavors to protect this most fundamental of all human rights, the right to life, through prayer and education. Members of this committee keep the parish well informed on all events, organizations or political agendas that threaten the sanctity of human life. They also organize phone and letter campaigns to legislators and other governmental officials in defense of human life. Join this group for spiritual growth and fellowship as they make and share rosaries for the foreign missions, prisons, hospitals, nursing homes and the homebound. They meet at 9:30 a.m. on the second Wednesday of each month. Rosaries can also be made at home. This group is open to parishioners of all ages. Sodality members tend to the spiritual needs of the sick and homebound by bringing them Holy Communion on a weekly basis. They meet on the second Saturday of each month at 8:15am in room 8 of Rosary Hall for a short meeting prayer for the sick and homebound. Mass follows at 9:00 am for the intentions of the sick. For the protection and safety of those they serve, members will need to be fingerprinted, receive a background check, and attend safe environment training for vulnerable adults prior to bringing Holy Communion to the homebound.
