We continue to be notified of email and text message scams that appear to come from clergy and staff of Our Lady of the Rosary. Below are important tips to help protect yourself against these scams as well as sample scam emails.
Signs of Scam/Phishing Emails & Texts:
Vague requests for help or assistance.
Requests for contact/reply without additional information. “I need your help, please contact me”
Requests to be "discreet"
Demands/requests for urgent action.
Requests for gift cards, money or anything else of value.
Poor grammar and spelling errors.
An unfamiliar greeting or salutation or a full signature (Ex. Reverend Justin P. Paskert instead of Fr. Justin or Fr. Justin Paskert)
Requests for login credentials, payment information or sensitive data.
Offers that are too good to be true.
Suspicious or unsolicited attachments.
Inconsistencies in email addresses, links and domain names.
Don’t just rely on the “FROM” name. Click on or expand the name/from field to see the actual email address from which the note was sent. Do not respond to anything that does not come from @ladyrosary.org.
