Sacristans serve the Lord behind the scenes and help make the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass a special occasion by either: (1) setting up of all sacred vessels and linens for Mass followed by the purification of linens and vessels after Mass or (2) being responsible for the washing and ironing of altar linens. Volunteers are trained and assigned to a specific Mass and the specific folding of all altar linens. Sacristans can perform either one function or both. Linens to be laundered are to be picked up on Monday and are to be returned by Wednesday.
